The Pontypridd branch is run by 2 of the directors and KMW trained instructors of Krav Maga Wales, Rhett Evans and Jim Hall. The fully insured club is quality assured and regulated by the head instructor Dave Jones and was set up to give people in the local area a chance to train in Krav Maga with a specific goal in mind:
• To offer absolute novices to the opportunity learn the basics of Krav Maga in a supportive environment with students of the same ability.
• Jim and Rhett recognize that joining an evening class, especially a self defence class; can be a daunting prospect for some people. Concerns could be further exacerbated by the experience of potential students who have joined other martial arts based classes in the past and we left with the feeling that they didn’t get taught the good stuff until they had been attending for a year or so.
• In the spirit of Krav Maga Wales, where every class is treated like a mini seminar, every person attending (regardless of ability) should take away a practical skill that could save their lives or protect the lives of their family and loved ones, even if they only attend once. The absolute beginner will learn, in a very short space of time, real practical self defence techniques that they can use immediately to give themselves a window of escape in the event of becoming embroiled in a violent confrontation.
• The Absolute Beginners class offers the new student a very supportive environment where the instructors tailor the pace of learning and build a strong element of comradeship amongst the students who get to know everybody in their class. Under these friendly conditions the learning not only becomes highly enjoyable, it also allows the class to learn at the same speed and that speed is "fast"!
